Alex Goodfellow

CEO

With nearly 40 years of experience in housebuilding and timber frame manufacturing, Alex Goodfellow is recognised as one of the UK’s leading voices in offsite construction.

Appointed Chief Executive Officer of Donaldson Offsite in 2022 following the acquisition of Stewart Milne Timber Systems by the Donaldson Group, Alex leads the strategic growth and development of the Group’s offsite businesses. His focus is on driving innovation, quality and market expansion while championing timber frame as a key solution to the UK’s housing and sustainability challenges.

Before joining the Donaldson Group in 2021, Alex spent over three decades with Stewart Milne Group, where he served on the main Board and held senior leadership positions including Managing Director of both Stewart Milne Timber Systems and Stewart Milne Homes.

Alex also plays a prominent role in shaping the future of the timber industry as Chair of the Confederation of Timber Industries (CTI) and a Board Member and former Chair of the Structural Timber Association (STA).

Mike Perry

Business Development Director

Mike is a long-standing board director of timber systems, joining the business in 2015 as part of Stewart Milne Group and then as part of Donaldson Timber Systems when Donaldson Group bought Stewart Milne Timber Systems in 2021.

Mike leads our business development team, working with major housebuilding and construction companies across the UK to increase use of timber frame. A highly regarded expert in timber frame, he has influenced and led several large-scale customer transitions to timber frame. He is passionate about people and development and was instrumental in developing a new and innovative customer learning platform, along with a team coaching programme to develop future talent. He also leads on our continuous improvement strategy, focused on customer experience.

Prior to joining us, Mike spent 14 years with Llewellyn Group and then 8 years as Director with Rok. In his spare time, Mike is an avid Chelsea supporter and loves nothing more than going to a game with his sons.

John Smith

Technical Director

John has over 30 years’ experience in the timber frame industry. He leads all pre-construction activities, product development and governance, working with the wider industry to meet changing building regulations while delivering more sustainable products. John is passionate about sustainability and lowering the carbon footprint of construction. He is a member of the board of the Structural Timber Association (STA), supporting the advancement of knowledge in the housebuilding and contractor sectors to grow the use of timber frame, and works cross industry to improve quality and performance.

He was a key member of the senior team that developed and built the UK’s first Zero Carbon home. He has been involved in several Government and industry programmes including AIMC4 and AIMCH, and more recently the Future Homes Hub and the Scottish Passivhaus Equivalent working group.

John has worked with the UK’s leading housebuilders to support their successful transition to timber frame build systems for housing. He is also a lead in the delivery of industry training to further the successful use of timber frame across the UK.

Veronica Watson

Finance Director

Veronica joined the Board in November 2025 as Finance Director, following three years with the Donaldson Group. Prior to that, she was Head of Financial Control, Systems and Operations at RBS.

She has extensive and diverse PQE track record, gained within a FTSE 100 financial services environment. Her core experience has been developed across financial control, decision support and business change. A strong leader and motivator, Veronica’s key strengths include strategic thinking, planning and organising, delivering results and building relationships. We’re delighted to have her in the team.

David Nimmo

Commercial Director

As Commercial Director at Donaldson Timber Systems, David Nimmo is responsible for driving the company’s commercial strategy and overseeing all aspects of health and safety across the business. With a strong background in commercial management and operational leadership within the construction and manufacturing sectors, David brings deep experience in delivering value, ensuring compliance and maintaining trusted customer relationships.

David’s focus is on building long-term partnerships that balance quality, performance and commercial efficiency. He works closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure every project is delivered on time, within budget and to the highest safety standards.

Passionate about people and process, David is committed to fostering a culture where safety, transparency and collaboration underpin every decision. His leadership helps ensure that Donaldson Timber Systems continues to set the standard for quality, value and responsibility in modern timber construction.
